Giving

Many contemplative communities operate with limited financial resources. In much of the West, the traditional structures that once sustained them - regular donations, parish networks, inherited endowments - have steadily diminished with the decline of formal religion.

Yet these communities remain quiet safeguards of a dimension of human life that benefits us all. They preserve spaces set apart for sustained silence, disciplined practice and compassionate presence - places where attention is trained, ego is softened, and unity is experienced rather than merely discussed. Amidst a culture that moves quickly and speaks loudly, such environments act as reliable refuges for the slower work of cultivating interior clarity and human connection.

What We Fund

Monk pledges 50% of distributable profits to fund specific, defined infrastructure projects that sustain the daily life of contemplative communities. We support the boring but necessary aspects of these bastions of silence, such as:

  • Roof and structural repairs
  • Heating, plumbing and water systems
  • Electrical and fire safety upgrades
  • Insulation and energy improvements
  • Kitchen and communal facilities

These are rarely visible and often unglamorous. They are, however, indispensable.

We do not fund expansion, promotion, or ceremonial projects. Our focus is on the ordinary material conditions that allow silence and mindfulness to persist in a world increasingly invaded by noise of all kinds.

Each grant is agreed in advance, allocated to a defined project, and reviewed annually.

Who We Fund

We support registered monastic and contemplative communities who, although rooted in particular traditions, embody humility, integrity and a recognition of shared human dignity beyond sectarian boundaries. Our aim is to strengthen places devoted to contemplative life, not to endorse or promote particular doctrines or creeds.
